On behalf of the Board of Directors for SK Livestock Finance Co-operative (SKLF), I am excited to share our first update with you!

We have been working diligently over the past few months to form the new co-op that will replace the Ministry of Agriculture’s Livestock Loan Guarantee Program. We are so proud of the progress we’ve made to date and look forward to providing you with regular updates as we progress in the months ahead.

Last month we selected a financial institution to partner with us to offer SKLF’s new feeder/breeder financing programs for both cattle and bison. We are close to finalizing the details of our agreement with this institution and will share more information with you as soon as its been finalized. We are also in the final stages of developing a package for Livestock Supervisors to provide when they complete their spring checks, which will include information about SKLF, answers to frequently asked questions and a membership application forms. In addition, we are in the process of hiring SKLF’s General Manager who will be responsible for running the provincial co-operative.

SKLF’s website is up and running and can be found at www.sklivestockfinance.ca. We will be regularly updating the website as more information becomes available, so please check back often.

We are confident that SKLF’s financing programs will be very competitive and attractive to our members. It’s an exciting time and we’re hopeful that everyone will see the value and decide to transfer over to this new co-operative.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at any time by email.

Sincerely,
Sandra Moen
Chair, Board of Director
